English: The assignment we got was to go out and take pictures of unfamiliar people and ask them what their favorite place to be is, and then take pictures of those places. Unfortunately, this was a task I was unable to perform due to various reasons.

Fritid - prøveeksamen/ Spare Time - the mock exam
English:
Description: "Kulturbyen Bergen" is going to arrange a fair for teenagers focusing on young people's spare time interests between the ages of 15 and 20. Your assignment is to make posters about spare time activities of your choosing. The posters are supposed to have a creative expression that will raise the teenagers' interest and curiosity. The posters should have both photographic and graphic expression, meaning the pictires can be manipulated in order to get the graphic expression. The title on those posters can be "Spare Time" or something else relevant. The poster itself can be either motivational or a commercial of something.
Task 1: Make a poster in both black/white and color, where you highlight just some certain areas by coloring them. People should be a part of the motive. You should also add the text "Spare Time" or something else that is relevant. Format: A3, either vertical or horizontal:
English: The poster from the first task consists of two separate photographs - The silhouette with the trees and the path in the front, and the city in the background. I chose to have a silhouette in order to show that the person in the pic can be anyone, including the one looking at the poster itself. Additionally, I think the composition along with the silhouette effect give the picture a sense of calmness, something that I was actually trying to achieve. That is also why I chose hiking along with a nice nocturne in the ears to be an example of a way to spend your spare time. The reason why I chose the have some more color in the background is because I didn't want it to be out of focus. I wanted the poster to be "warm", despite the fact that the black dominates here. The word "YOU" in the text underneath is written like this in order to indicate that the person looking at the poster has the choice to spend his/her spare time however he/she wants to.
Her er bildene jeg brukte for å lage denne collagen/ Here are the pictures I used in order to make the collage:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
English:
Task 2: Make a poster where you use at least 3 different pictures showing different aspects of spare time activities. Additionally, you have to include the text "Spare Time" or another relevant text. The poster should be a photo montage/ collage edited in Photoshop. Format: A3, either vertical or horizontal.
English: The picture from the second task took more than double the time to make because when I got the idea of it, I had to start from scratch. The window had to be with the exact proportions of an A3 sheet, and the thumbnails had to be bigger than they usually are in a window like this one because the pictures inside had to be big enough for someone to see them clearly. Each of these pics is unique and represents a certain type of activity for one's spare time. The empty thumbnail is there in order to make the person looking at the poster feel involved in it, the same way as in the first task. The point isn't to tell the reader what he/she should to, but rather to stimulate their own ability to choose.
Many of the different elements, including the thumbnails and the cursor, are made using MS Paint and later added to the Photoshop PSD file. Honestly, the process was very long and frustrating, but in the end I was satisfied with the result. I think the picture is original and, maybe in a way, funny. In my opinion, a poster looking like a PC window will get young people's attention. This is why I chose to manipulate it the way I did.

English: The title speaks for itself - we were supposed to take a picture of two objects almost in contact with each other. Such pictures are exciting because of the mysic feeling they create when one looks at them.

Bozhidar Asenov

Fotocollage/ Photo Collage

English: For this assignment I chose a project that I named "The Nature Within" in order to show how different personalities can be explained with different aspects of nature. The reason I chose it was because I wanted to make a photo collage with people in it and at the same time have nature in it since I had some nice nature photos I wanted to use.
The colors here are edited in Photoshop using multiple layers with different blending modes, including "darken" and "multiply", for example. In addition, I've use some filters in order to change the contrast and sharpness (like for example "Diffuse Glow"). The yellow and the red are made with the Brush tool with a very low opacity (10-20%). The smoke is made using the Liquify tool. It wasn't actually that hard to make, the thing is it takes a long time to make if you want to make it look more or less realistic. The text is written using the Vivaldi font.

justere).
English: The task was to make an image
consisting of only two colors in contrast with each other. The wheel on
the left shows the possible combinations. I chose green and red. The
picture is colored in this manner by using the Hue/Saturation option
(one also has to click on colorize before starting to adjust).

Lysmaleri/ Light Painting

Popart Comic Strips
English: The task was to find a portrait photo and use it to make a Popart-inspired picture, an art form that first occured and was popular in the US in the 40's and 50's. During that time period the process of doing such an image was probably long and difficult, but today it's a lot easier, especially with Photoshop. The first thing to do is making the picture black&white. Then we click on Image -> Adjustments -> Tresholdso that the picture looks more or less like a drawing. The next thing to do is to color it however you want to. In addition, I've used an effect in order to make it look like a comic strip. This is done by clicking on Filter -> Pixelate -> Colored Halftone, and then choose the radius. The effect on the border and the text is done by going to Filter -> Distort -> Ripple. In addition, it may be smart/necessary to adjust the contrast a bit.

English: This is the result from my project "Vintage Styling" which I took on my own initiative. I wasn't the one to take the original photo, but I know the person who did and I was there when it was taken. The editing on the other hand is my work (and in addition, of course, I was allowed to do it). This image is an explanation of how I've manipulated the original photo in order to get the final result (an old retro pic). This is an example of how use of multiple layers and settings in Photoshop can be helpful in order to give the photo special effects. Each of these five layers has been edited in several ways before being put together, and after that there's more use of Photoshop for the final editing. The whole process consist of around 20 phases. |
